New Beginning

New Beginning

What is the “New Beginning”? I’m glad you have asked that question. And I am more than delighted to answer it because it is something very exciting that happened Sunday, April 16, at Lakeland Church.

Several years ago a vision was born to fulfill God’s call to begin a new church in the Moneta area to meet the people’s spiritual needs in that community.

With a renewed sense of call from God stirring in our hearts today and with a new commitment in prayer and trust in the power of the Holy Spirit, the Lakeland Church is being challenged to rise up and be “the Church” (not a building or a place, but the people of God). It is exciting what God is doing! There are people in the Moneta and the surrounding area that are in need of a Life-Giving Church! People in need of the hope and healing that can only be found in Jesus. We believe that we are that “Church,” but, only by the grace and the love and the Spirit of God.

If you are not familiar with the Lakeland Church people, we are just like you – ordinary folks who are seeking to become more like Jesus. We invite you to come along side of us  in this “New Beginning” and we’ll grow together. We want to be a light shining the way to help people find their way to God for the first time (or find their way back once again to God if they have gotten far away).

Sometimes when a church begins a new thing, they make it sound like they are the cool church, or the best church in the neighborhood. But that’s not who we are. Lakeland Church is just another group of people trying to make a positive difference in our community for God.  It’s a place to explore faith. We want to focus on developing new believers in following Christ and then develop them further in church leadership. We want to be a church of the community that meets spiritual needs. And we invite you to be a part of our team in this new calling, this “New Beginning.”

With our “New Beginning” everything is designed to help you and your family in your spiritual journey. We welcome people regardless of where one is in his/her faith. If you make Lakeland your home church, we commit to helping you personally grow in your faith. We kicked-off the “New Beginning” on Easter Sunday, and we want you to join us on this exciting journey.

Now, we want you to know right up front, from your first visit, if you are not a follower of Jesus, we want to help you become one. If you are new to your faith in Jesus we want to help you grow in your faith. If you have been a follower of Jesus for years and have matured in your faith, we will lead you into becoming a stronger believer. Lastly, if you are already a strong believer, we want to help you become more effective in building God’s Kingdom as a faithful servant. God has brought us to the point of a “New Beginning” for the purpose of asking more of us. I want to encourage you to listen for the voice of God.  Maybe God is calling you for this purpose!

God is calling on more and more of us to be the feet and hands that brings the good news of Jesus to the people in our family, in our classroom, our neighborhoods and at work. God has placed us here and at this time for us to meet the spiritual needs of the people he has placed in our path of ministry. This is the “New Beginning!”

If you would like to join us, we would count it as an honor to have you as part of our “New Beginning.” If you would like to learn more about Lakeland Church, check out the rest of our website.
