Finding Your Spiritual Journey:
Lent is the time of spiritual preparation prior to Easter. Lent is the Church’s great spiritual journey in revisiting the great suffering of Jesus on our behalf. Lent can become a new beginning, a path leading to an inspirational celebration of Easter because of Christ’s victory over death. The season urgently calls Christians to return to God “with all their hearts” (Joel 2:12), to grow in a new friendship with the Lord. Traditionally, Lent has become a season for deepening our spiritual life through fasting, prayer and giving. However, at the basis of everything is the Word of God, which during this season we are, invited to hear and ponder more deeply. Let us find inspiration in the journey to the cross in this season, for it provides a key to understanding what we need to do in order to attain true happiness and eternal life. The purpose of Lent points us to the hope of the Resurrection and reminds us of what Jesus did for us and why.
